1.Parties
Rental Company: Cars and More Ltd. (RentMeMalta) The renter is responsible for all listed drivers and any person using the vehicle during the rental.
2.Vehicle Details
Vehicle make, model, registration number, and condition are recorded in the rental agreement and inspection sheet.
3.Rental Period
Rental starts at agreed pickup time and ends at agreed return time.
Late return fees: * 1 hour grace period *€20/hour thereafter *Over 6 hours → vehicle treated as non-returned, police report filed, recovery costs charged.
Failure to return keys may result in re-keying charges and loss-of-use fees.
4.Rental Deposits - Pre-Authorisation from Visa prior to vehicle collection
According to insurance package selected, the security deposit amount will vary. Prior to collecting the car, confirm with your bank that the amount is available on your card and there are no security limits that will restrict you from paying for your rental and the deposit. Card used has to be on the insured driver's name or on second driver. Deposits are refundable after inspection if vehicle returned in agreed condition.
Other purchased services, like Protection Package, are non-refundable once rental begins.
5.Security Deposit
5.1 Basic Cover (Included)
Security Deposit: €900 (All Vehicles except E-Bikes)
Included with every rental. The renter remains fully liable for any damage or loss to the vehicle.
5.2 Smart Cover
Security Deposit: Compact Manual - €300 / Mid-Size Manual and Automatic - €350 / Compact Automatic and Mid-size SUV - €450
Reduces liability for accidental bodywork damage only. The renter remains responsible for tyres, rims, mirrors, glass, interior, keys, missing fuel, traffic fines, negligence, reckless driving, overspeeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, roadside assistance due to driver negligence, and any breach of these Terms & Conditions.
Security Deposit: Motorbike - €250 / Quadbike - €400
Covers against theft only:
Covers theft, subject to security conditions, attempted theft damage, lost or damaged keys, and minor damage to mirrors, indicators, and levers.
Does not cover collision damage, scratches or bodywork damage, damage caused by dropping the motorbike, or damage to tyres, wheels, or mechanical components.
The customer remains responsible for all damage not covered by Smart Cover.
5.3 Premium Cover
Security Deposit: €200 (All Vehicles except E-Bikes)
Enjoy our highest level of protection with zero liability for accidental vehicle damage, subject to the rental terms and conditions. A €200 refundable security deposit is required. This option is ideal for customers who want the most complete protection and a stress-free rental experience.
5.4 E-Bike Security Deposit:€450 The renter may choose to reduce the security deposit to €150 by paying an additional €10 per rental day. The reduced deposit option is subject to the same rental terms and conditions, and the renter remains responsible for any charges, damage, loss, or liability not covered by the selected protection package.
Additional charges may apply if vehicle is not fit for next booking.
Misuse or vandalism may be reported to Malta Police.
6.Payment Terms
Accepted payment methods: Cash, Visa/Mastercard, Bank Transfer. American Express is not accepted.
Full payment due before or at vehicle collection.
7.Renter Responsibilities
The renter agrees to Drive responsibly and obey Maltese traffic laws. To return vehicle in same condition (normal wear accepted). To report accidents immediately, even if excess waiver is purchased ( Failure to do so, will revoke deposit release). To not allow unauthorized drivers.
8.In case of accident / damage
Optional comprehensive insurance covers must be purchased before rental begins. In case of accident, Submit police report in hit & run or vandalism OR Complete accident report + Inform RentMeMalta immediately
Failure to comply → deposit forfeited.
Protection Packages will not cover: traffic fines, fuel, late returns, lost keys, excessive dirt, smoking smell or damage, interior damage, off-road damage, negligence or misuse, unauthorised drivers, reckless driving, overspeeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and any breach of the Rental Agreement. All vehicles are speed-tracked, and driving data may be reviewed in the event of a claim.
9.Traffic Fines & Admin Fees
Renter is responsible for all fines, tolls, penalties, CVA fees, and driving points.
Admin fees are €15 per fine OR €25 if driving points declaration required. Charges may be billed after rental if received later. If fines exceed deposit → renter must top-up immediately.
10.Vehicle Restrictions
The vehicle must NOT be used for: Off-road driving - Racing or track use - Sub-renting or commercial transport - Carrying illegal goods - Driving outside Malta.
11.Additional Charges
- Missing, lost, or damaged phone mount: €65
- Smoking in vehicle: €150
- Refuelling fee: €65 + fuel cost
Additional charges may apply if the vehicle is returned in a condition that makes it unsuitable for the next booking.
12.Roadside Assistance Cover, if purchased, covers call-outs caused by driver negligence during the rental period, subject to the rental terms and conditions. Without this cover, a €85 call-out fee applies. Examples include a flat battery, lost/locked keys, incorrect fuel, or tyre damage.

13.Vehicles are GPS-tracked fr security using SPEED + LOCATION recording.
14.Mileage - Unlimited mileage unless otherwise stated.
15.Additional Drivers
Additional drivers must be registered and paid in advance. Unregistered drivers are uninsured and illegal. Rental agreement is non-transferable.
16.Cancellation & Termination
Free cancellation is available within 7 days of booking or up to 48 hours before the rental start; after this period, the deposit is non-refundable. No refunds are provided for no-shows, early returns, or failure to provide the required documents or security deposit. RentMeMalta reserves the right to terminate the rental in cases of misuse.
17.Fuel Policy - Vehicle must be returned with same fuel level.
18.Breakdown & Assistance
Contact RentMeMalta immediately. Do not attempt to repair vehicle without approval. If breakdown happens in Gozo, recovery fees with be higher + takes longer to assist. Replacement vehicle subject to availability, and not possible in Gozo.
19.Liability & Indemnity
The renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Cars and More Ltd. / RentMeMalta, its directors, employees, partners, and agents against any claims, damages, losses, penalties, legal costs, or third-party liabilities arising from:
*Use or misuse of the vehicle * Traffic offences or illegal acts *Injury or death caused during rental *Loss of personal belongings *Mechanical misuse or negligence
RentMeMalta shall not be liable for delays caused by breakdown, accident, or traffic, loss of business, bookings, or income, personal injury caused by renter negligence, or any items left inside the vehicle.
Maximum liability of RentMeMalta is limited to rental amount paid.
20.Privacy: Customer data used only for booking, insurance, legal compliance.
21.Governing Law: This agreement is governed by the laws of Malta.
Disputes shall be handled by Maltese courts.
22.Acceptance: By booking or signing the agreement, the renter confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
