RentMeMalta – Rental Terms & Conditions

  1. Parties

Rental Company: Cars and More Ltd. (RentMeMalta)
The renter is responsible for all listed drivers and any person using the vehicle during the rental.

  1. Vehicle Details

Vehicle make, model, registration number, and condition are recorded in the rental agreement and inspection sheet.

  1. Rental Period

Rental starts at agreed pickup time and ends at agreed return time.

Late return fees:

  • 1 hour grace period
  • €20/hour thereafter
  • Over 24 hours → vehicle treated as non-returned, police report filed, recovery costs charged.

Failure to return keys may result in re-keying charges and loss-of-use fees.

  1. Rental Fees & Deposits

Rental Fee: As per booking.
Security Deposit: €250–€450 depending on vehicle.
Insurance Excess: From €600 unless excess waiver is purchased prior to rental start.

Deposits are refundable after inspection if vehicle returned in agreed condition.

Other purchased services (extras) are non-refundable once rental begins.

  1. Payment Terms

Accepted payment methods: Cash, Visa/Mastercard, Bank Transfer.
American Express is not accepted.

Full payment due before or at vehicle collection.

  1. Renter Responsibilities

The renter agrees to:

  • Drive responsibly and obey Maltese traffic laws.
  • Return vehicle in same condition (normal wear accepted).
  • Report accidents immediately, even if excess waiver is purchased. Failure to do so, will revoke deposit release
  • Not allow unauthorized drivers.

Insurance cover:

  • Cars → Fully Comprehensive
  • Quad bikes & motorbikes → Third Party Only

Any damage, theft, or loss during rental is renter’s responsibility.

  1. Insurance Excess & Damage Waiver

Insurance excess starts from €600 per claim.

Optional Excess Waiver must be purchased before rental begins.

Even with waiver, renter must:

  • Submit police report in hit & run or vandalism
  • Complete accident report
  • Inform RentMeMalta immediately

Failure to comply → deposit forfeited.

Waiver does NOT cover:

  • Tyres, rims, mirrors, glass
  • Interior damage
  • Off-road damage
  • Negligence or misuse
  • Unauthorised drivers
  • Driving under alcohol or drugs
  1. Security Deposit Use

Deposit may be retained for:

  • Scratches/dents over 1.5cm
  • Missing accessories or helmets
  • Excess dirt or off-road use
  • Smoke smell or burns
  • Deep cleaning or repair costs
  • Negligence (flat battery, tyre damage, etc.)

These examples are not exhaustive.

Additional charges may apply if vehicle is not fit for next booking.

Misuse or vandalism may be reported to Malta Police.

  1. Traffic Fines & Admin Fees

Renter is responsible for all fines, tolls, penalties, CVA fees, and driving points.

Admin fees:

  • €15 per fine
  • €25 if driving points declaration required

Charges may be billed after rental if received later.

If fines exceed deposit → renter must top-up immediately.

  1. Vehicle Restrictions

The vehicle must NOT be used for:

  • Off-road driving
  • Racing or track use
  • Sub-renting or commercial transport
  • Carrying illegal goods
  • Driving outside Malta unless authorised

Smoking in vehicle is prohibited.

Vehicles are GPS-tracked for security. 

Rental agreement is non-transferable.

  1. Mileage

Unlimited mileage unless otherwise stated.

  1. Additional Drivers

Additional drivers must be registered and paid in advance.

Unregistered drivers are uninsured and illegal.

  1. Cancellation & Termination

Free cancellation:

  • Within 7 days of booking
  • Or up to 48h before rental start

After this → deposit non-refundable.

No refunds for:

  • No-show
  • Early return
  • Failure to provide documents or deposit

RentMeMalta may terminate rental for misuse.

  1. Fuel Policy

Vehicle must be returned with same fuel level.

Refuelling fee: €65 + fuel cost.

  1. Breakdown & Assistance

Contact RentMeMalta immediately.

Do not repair vehicle without approval.

Replacement vehicle subject to availability

  1. Liability & Indemnity

The renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Cars and More Ltd. / RentMeMalta, its directors, employees, partners, and agents against any claims, damages, losses, penalties, legal costs, or third-party liabilities arising from:

  • Use or misuse of the vehicle
  • Traffic offences or illegal acts
  • Injury or death caused during rental
  • Loss of personal belongings
  • Mechanical misuse or negligence

RentMeMalta shall not be liable for:

  • Delays due to breakdown, accident, or traffic
  • Loss of business, bookings, or income
  • Personal injury caused by renter negligence
  • Items left inside vehicle

Maximum liability of RentMeMalta is limited to rental amount paid.

  1. Privacy

Customer data used only for booking, insurance, legal compliance.

  1. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of Malta.

Disputes shall be handled by Maltese courts.

  1. Acceptance

By booking or signing the agreement, the renter confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
